Who operates the app
Flawless Studio LLC, a United States company, operates Horology. You can use the app without creating an account, and we do not run a server that stores your collection. For privacy questions or requests, email support@horology.app.
Information handled
Your collection. The watches you add (names, references, serial numbers, movement and case details, purchase prices and values, notes and photos), your wear history, accuracy measurements and service records are stored on your iPhone. If you are signed in to iCloud, Horology also keeps them in the private iCloud database of your Apple Account so they stay in sync across your devices, and syncs your Horology settings through iCloud. Apple stores this for you; we cannot access it. Horology's widgets read your collection on your device to show your watches. This information is included in your device and iCloud backups if you use them, and Horology does not send it to us.
Photos and camera. If you add photos, you choose them with the system photo picker or take them with the camera, and Horology saves a copy with the watch on your device. Studio photos separate the watch from its background using Apple's on-device image analysis.
Catalog and listing import. Horology's watch reference catalog is built into the app, so searching it happens on your iPhone. If you paste text into Horology, or share a web page to it from Safari or another app, Horology reads the text, and for a page its address and title, on your device to recognize the watch and fill in its details. Horology does not save or upload the page. If you add the watch, Horology keeps the details you confirm and notes the website it came from.
Microphone. The Timegrapher listens to your watch through the microphone only while you are measuring. The sound is analyzed in memory on your iPhone to calculate rate, beat error and amplitude. It is never recorded, saved or uploaded. iOS asks for your permission first.
Reference time. To measure accuracy against true time, Horology asks public time servers (time.apple.com, or time.google.com or pool.ntp.org if it cannot be reached) for the current time. Like any internet request, this shares your IP address with that server. It does not include any information about you or your watches.
Apple Watch. If you use the Apple Watch app, your iPhone sends it a summary of your collection (names, dial colors, wear counts and rates), and your watch can ask your iPhone to log a wear. This happens directly between your devices.
Reminders. If you allow notifications, Horology schedules its reminders on your device: the next reading of an accuracy check, service due dates and an optional daily reminder.
Exports. Insurance reports and spreadsheets are created on your device. They leave it only if you choose to share or save them somewhere.
Purchases. Apple processes payment for Horology Pro. RevenueCat processes your purchase history and an anonymous app identifier so the app can unlock and restore Pro. We do not receive your payment card details.
Usage statistics and crash reports. Unless you turn it off, Horology sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase and crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics. Usage statistics record which features are used, such as adding a watch, logging a wear, saving a measurement or opening the Pro screen, along with app opens and sessions, your device model, iOS and app version, language and approximate country. Crash reports describe what the app was doing when it stopped and the state of your device at the time. Both carry a random identifier for your installation of the app. They never include your watches, references, serial numbers, prices, notes or photos, and Horology does not use your device's advertising identifier. You can turn them off in Horology under Settings, Privacy, Share usage and crash reports.
Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you send, so we can reply.
Horology does not show ads, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use your advertising identifier.
Why it is used
Information on your device powers the app's features: your collection, wear tracking, accuracy measurements, insights, reminders, widgets, exports, catalog search, listing import and the Apple Watch app. Time server responses let Horology compare your watch with true time. Purchase information unlocks and restores Pro. Usage statistics show us which features people use, and crash reports help us find and fix problems. We use support messages to answer you. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, these activities may rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interests, legal obligations, or consent as appropriate. Reading this notice does not itself give consent.
Who processes information
Apple provides app distribution, payments, notifications, iCloud storage and sync, on-device image analysis and the connection to Apple Watch. RevenueCat manages purchase entitlements. Google receives usage statistics and crash reports through Firebase. The time servers named above answer time requests. These providers may process information in the United States or other countries under their own terms and transfer arrangements. See Apple privacy information and RevenueCat's privacy policy, and Privacy and Security in Firebase.
Your choices and rights
In the app, you can edit or delete any watch and its service records, and deleting a watch removes its photos, wear history and measurements. In Horology's Settings, under Privacy, you can stop sending usage statistics and crash reports. In iOS Settings, you can turn off microphone, camera or notification access at any time. Deleting the app removes what it stores on your device; your iCloud copy stays until you delete your watches in the app or remove Horology's data in your iCloud storage settings. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.
Depending on where you live and the processing involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, or to complain to a data protection authority. Email support@horology.app to make a request. We may need information to verify and handle it; we cannot retrieve information stored only on your device.
Children
Horology is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us.
Retention and security
Information on your device stays until you delete it or the app, and information in your iCloud stays until you delete it. Usage statistics and crash reports are kept according to the retention settings of Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Purchase and support records are kept for the purposes described here and according to the providers' retention settings, applicable law and service requirements. We use device and provider security controls to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Updates and contact
We may update this notice as the app or its services change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
